Sizzling PR has an opening for a publicist.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Individual needed to handle multiple book tours for authors and publishers as well as potentially provide virtual assistant services to authors.
For this position, I’m looking for someone who checks their email frequently, can be available Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm. You will not need to be at the computer the whole time. Your time online depends on what tours and such you are working on. You will need to be available to reply to emails, book tours, share links, etc.
You will need to be familiar with or willing to learn to use, Mail Chimp, Google Docs, and WordPress. Publicists are also required to post links to Facebook via our page and street team.
CANDIDATES:
Must not be another author’s assistant or employed with a publisher in marketing. We are a fast paced company and need someone who can devote their time and effort to our authors and publishers, and not split their time with other promotional efforts.
Must have time to devote to authors/publishers assigned to them, and the drive to achieve their objective – to promote their clients.
Must have Microsoft Office with Word at the very least. Excel would be a benefit.
Must have some type of graphic software, with adobe photoshop, GIMP (a free download), etc. Banners can also be created with Microsoft Powerpoint.
Be a self-starter.
Have a knowledge of readers, promotional endeavors and background with several social media platforms
Have an active online presence in several platforms, especially Facebook. Twitter, G+, etc. would be a benefit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in marketing booked tours.
Creating marketing sheets, and graphics.
Promoting authors, books, tour spots, and events through various online platforms.
Assist authors in preparing for their events and book launches.
Updating/creating shared documents
Social media involvement (including but not limited to Sizzling PR Facebook page/street team)
Tracking and recording progress of tours
Following up with hosts about upcoming or missed spots
Following up with authors to make sure things are received on time for each tour spot.
Other duties as assigned
Seeking out new places and hosts to promote the authors/publishers.
Candidate will be required to send a weekly report on status on all on going tours.
You must remain in contact with clients and supervisor. Weekly updates are required each Friday.
COMPENSATION:
Is a percentage of each tour seen through to completion. This is paid at the first part of the month following tour completion.
