Hunger Moon Excerpt #15
Logan grumbled and regarded her with a sour expression. He did not seem to share her amusement at their predicament. He turned the knob and found it dead-bolted. “Do you know how to pick locks?”
She snorted. “I’m many things: spirit speaker, healer, nurse. Regardless of what you think of me, I grew up in a nice neighborhood with a nice family. We did nice, boring things together. I can’t pick locks or disarm security systems.
“You’re ruining my fantasy.”
“What about you, Silver Spoon?”
“My spoon was gold, baby, solid gold.” Logan regarded the sturdy metal door and then gave it a rattle, checking its strength. He looked to Victoria and arched his brow. He had a gleam in his eyes that she did not like at all.
“Logan, what are you thinking?”
“That Evan had the right of it. Ready to have some fun?” Logan gave her no opportunity to formulate a reply. He stripped off his shirt and kicked off his boots. His jeans came last, sliding over lean hips, muscular thighs and trim calves. He folded his clothes and handed them to her for safekeeping.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Victoria remained skeptical, but she had no alternative plan.
“You got a better idea?”
He turned his back to her and for the first time she noticed the tattoo on his back just above his ass. It was an Ouroboros Serpent, a dragon eating its own tail.
Victoria let out an admiring wolf whistle, using her teeth to create the sound. Her gaze lingered on his tight buttocks as much as the intricate artwork.
He shot her a cocky smirk. “Enjoying the view?”
“It would figure that you’d have a tramp stamp.”
“Ouch.” He pantomimed hurt, hand to heart.
She smiled and shook her head. “Nice ink.”
“Thanks.” Logan’s quick glance and expression revealed his surprise at the compliment.
“Does your father know you have a tattoo of the world serpent?”
“It’s a dragon and yeah, he knows. It’s my back, not his.” Logan turned back to the door. “I got it on spring break in Cabo when I was seventeen. Woke up hung over and there it was.”
Victoria snorted. “No idea how you got it?”
“Not a one.”
“You’re such a cliché.”
“I’m not. I never know where to put the accent mark.”
