Halloween is almost upon us. It’s not as far away as you think. Is money tight? Trying to find a way to get your little munchkins a killer costume without spending a fortune? Last year ’round this time, I featured the ladies of Celebrate Green and Green Halloween. Here’s another great way to think green by recycling those costumes from last year. You’ll help out a mom somewhere and in turn someone will have just what you are looking for too. What in the world am I talking about? A online swap shop site called thredUp.

About the siter…

thredUP is hosting a virtual Halloween Costume Swap for families nationwide. Starting September 13, thousands of moms will start trading outgrown costumes for adorable ones that fit – all online, without leaving the house.

The Halloween costume exchange works exactly like the existing swap service: moms can browse Halloween-themed boxes and pick one they’d like to receive for $5 + shipping. Swappers also post their kids’ outgrown costumes online and send to other families upon request. thredUP e-mails the pre-paid shipping label and schedules home pick-up.

Sounds super easy to me. So if you are looking for inexpensive and green ways to celebrate Halloween or for year round swap shops for kids clothes (because they grow like weeds.) consider visiting www.thredup.com.
